Another successful step on the way to digital success
WITTE Automotive (Velbert), the world’s leading automotive supplier of vehicle locking systems, now has a share in the company based in Prague, IMA s.r.o. (Institute of Microelectronic Applications s.r.o.), an innovative developer of electronic identification systems.
We have reached another milestone on the path to digitization. On August 13, 2018, the WITTE Automotive Management Representative, Tomáš Jindra, signed a financial participation agreement with IMA in Prague.
The aim of the cooperation is to extend WITTE Automotive’s field of electronics in order to further develop its innovative technologies. The first joint development projects were launched two years ago and are further being developed together in a newly-acquired office building in Prague.
With a 25 years history and 80 employees, of which more than 60% are in development, IMA develops, manufactures and markets products such as access control, intelligent buildings, etc. for all kinds of customers (eg Škoda Auto, ČEZ) and is a leader in identification systems in the Czech Republic.
“This deepening of cooperation is another important milestone in the implementation of our digital strategy,” says Rainer Goelz, CEO of WITTE Automotive. “WITTE’s strategic presence at IMA will provide us with the necessary know-how in the field of digital access,” Goelz concludes.
Tomáš Trpišovský, IMA Chief Executive Officer, commented: “After a careful selection, we have found a strong industrial partner at WITTE. Together, we will build a Competence Center to deliver the results of our research and development to such areas as Smart Cities, Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things (IoT), but above all in the form of digital applications for the automotive industry. IMA will thus gain a new economic base to ensure not only its own but also the future of its employees.”
