Within the innovative AgriIoT project, in the period from July to November, we’ve tested an outdoor localization system using Bluetooth 5 technology for locating people and animals over long distances. We’ve been working closely on the development of the localization system and HW with experts from the CTU university and with our partners from LABFIS company in South Korea, a localization SW developer.
During this pilot operation, the robustness and accuracy of the technology has been tested on a herd of cows in Dolní Požáry near Prague. The cows were equipped with localization beacon collars and their position was detected by autonomous sensors located on the pasture and transmitted online to the analytical SW. The pilot operation confirmed that using data from the AgriIoT system, it is possible to monitor the movement of the herd in real time and detect possible abandonment of the pen in time, as well as the behavior of individual cows during the day; or their automatic identification during the process of milking. The system also makes it possible to monitor the movement of unauthorized persons on or around the pasture and immediately alert the operator to any risk phenomena.
This has been our second project in the given sector. In the parallel running AFarCloud project, in cooperation with the Institute of Animal Science (IAS) Prague, we are developing sensors for online monitoring of cow health.
